BELLVUE, COLO. — Sovos Brands subsidiary noosa yoghurt LLC is entering the drinkable yogurt category with a new line of fruit smoothies.
Available in strawberry, strawberry banana, mixed berry and mango flavors, the smoothies combine whole milk yogurt with a puree made from fruit, cane sugar and wildflower honey. Each 7-oz serving contains 160 calories, 5 grams of protein and 6 grams of fat.
“Over the past five years, yogurt drinks have experienced a growth rate of +10% per year for each of those years,” said Jason Vieth, executive vice president and general manager of Sovos Brands. “While consumers love the drinkable category, competitors have been falling short in terms of taste and texture.”
The smoothies check both of those boxes while being a good source of protein, he added.
“They also serve as a great way to mix up snacking habits for those looking for something convenient and delicious any time of the day,” Mr. Vieth said. “Since some in-person dining experiences such as restaurants and smoothie bars are limited due to COVID, consumers can still enjoy a tasty smoothie with their favorite noosa yoghurt flavors at home, without having to sacrifice on taste or texture.”
New noosa fruit smoothies are available at retailers including Safeway, Shaw’s, Ingles, Spartan Nash, AWG, Wakefern, ACME, Meijer and HyVee, and are set for wider national distribution in early 2021.
