LE MARS, IOWA — Halo Top is launching sorbet pints, the brand’s second fruit-based offering.
Starting at 260 calories per pint, Halo Top sorbet pints contain 54% to 58% less sugar than leading fruit sorbets in the frozen aisle, according to Wells Enterprises, Inc., which owns the better-for-you dessert brand. The gluten-free and certified vegan pints are available in raspberry, mango and strawberry varieties, each made with fruit and fruit juice.
Halo Top last year made its first foray into fruit-based frozen desserts with the launch of fruit pops, which contain 50% to 65% less sugar than other frozen fruit bars.
“We heard from our fans that they craved more frozen fruit offerings, but they didn't want the high sugar content of the fruit sorbets on shelves today,” said Pete Gargula, brand manager at Halo Top. “Following the release of fruit pops last year, our fruit sorbets allow fans to treat themselves to a refreshing, delicious dessert they can feel good about eating.”
Halo Top fruit sorbets will be available at grocery retailers nationwide beginning in May for a suggested retail price of $4.79 per pint.
