SAN DIEGO — Jack in the Box Inc. has opened the pilot location for its off-premises-only restaurant concept in Tulsa, Okla.
The company developed the concept in response to increased drive-thru and mobile orders as just over half of its dining rooms were open as of August. Measuring 1,350 square feet, the prototype is equipped with dual assembly kitchens, a two-lane drive-thru, a walk-up window for ordering and a walk-up window for mobile and delivery order pickups.
“The introduction of this new prototype is a huge boost to our nationwide growth efforts,” said Tim Linderman, chief franchise and corporate development officer for Jack in the Box. “With the benefits of increased drive-thru efficiency and streamlined operations, this new model makes the Jack in the Box franchise opportunity more appealing for customers and franchisees alike.”
The concept is expected to increase real estate opportunities and flexibility for franchisees while also reducing buildout costs by roughly 20%. Jack in the Box designed the prototype primarily as free-standing restaurants, but the company said they could be adapted and put into locations like convenience stores and travel plazas.
