KANSAS CITY — Quick foodservice locations are bringing back fan-favorite menu items to ring in the new year.
In celebration of IHOP reaching 65 years, the breakfast chain is bringing back the “Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity” combo.
The combo meal features two eggs, two bacon slices or two sausage links and two fruit-topped pancakes. IHOP added three new fruit toppings including blueberry, seasonal mixed berry and cinnamon apple.
“When Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity first arrived on IHOP menus, the breakfast combo was at the center of people’s memorable dining experiences, and we are excited to continue the tradition for a new generation,” said Kieran Donahue, chief marketing officer, IHOP. “Our guests know Rooty Tooty by name, so we knew it was the perfect menu item to pull out of our recipe archives in celebration of our 65th year to share a nostalgic fan favorite with guests, and spread a little more joy this year.”
Applebee’s re-introduced its all-you-can eat options for three items: boneless wings, riblets and double crunch shrimp, each coming with endless fries. Available for a limited-time, consumers can choose one of the three options, but can refill with a different option.
Popeyes also is bringing back a popular menu item after three years: its ghost pepper wings. The menu item features six chicken wings that have been marinated in a ghost pepper spice blend, then battered, breaded and served with Popeyes buttermilk ranch, according to the company.
“Our Ghost Pepper Wings have been a fan favorite amongst our guests, combining the perfect amount of spice and flavor for wing lovers,” said Sami Siddiqui, president of Popeyes North America. “The holiday season can be tough on everyone’s wallets, and we’re so excited to bring back Ghost Pepper Wings at an incredible value that can’t be beat.”
