DayDayCook to acquire Yai’s Thai

12.27.2023

Food Entrepreneur NEW YORK — Content-driven food consumer brand DayDayCook is acquiring a Thai American food brand, Yai’s Thai. The acquisition will be financed through a combination of both cash and stock, the company said. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed by the end of the year, the company said.

Yai’s Thai produces Thai-based pantry staples such as curries and stir-fry sauces. The company was founded in 2014 by Leland and Sarah Copenhagen based on their family’s Thai heritage. The company’s products may be found at Costco, Whole Foods Market, Safeway, Sprouts, and Kroger.

“Yai’s Thai is an important addition to the DayDayCook family, as it expands our presence into key food retailers and helps increase awareness among US consumers of what DDC has to offer to the market,” said Norma Chu, founder and chief executive officer of DayDayCook. “This marks our second acquisition in the US as we grow our Asian convenient meal solutions presence in the market. Yai’s Thai and DDC share many important core values — our dedication to natural ingredients, commitment to product excellence, and passion for promoting Asian cooking culture. Founders Leland and Sarah have built an incredible foundation with so much potential to bringing new product innovations to more consumers in the US. I look forward very much to working with the Yai’s Thai team to bring innovative culinary adventures into millions of home kitchens.”

DayDayCook was founded in 2012 and produces Asian-based ready-to-heat, ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat health-focused meal solutions. DayDayCook is based in China and the United States and has a global online presence.

“We are excited and honored to join the family of brands under the DayDayCook umbrella,” Mr. Copenhagen said. “We feel incredibly fortunate to find a partner whose mission and values so closely echo our own; authenticity, bold flavors, and clean labels have been our guiding pillars all along. This transaction is a meaningful step in our aspirations for Yai’s Thai and will allow us to achieve the goals we have set out for the future of the brand.”
