WASHINGTON — Butter, turkey, fruit, vegetable, egg and red meat stocks on July 31, 2012, were higher than year-earlier levels, but chicken and cheese stocks were lower, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Cold Storage report.
Frozen turkey stocks totaled 554,984,000 lbs, up 1% from June and up 6% from July 2011, the U.S.D.A. said. Total chicken stocks were 648,638,000 lbs, up slightly from 646,137,000 lbs in June but down 14% from July 2011. Total frozen poultry stocks were 1,208,139,000 lbs, up 1% from June but down 6% from July 2011.
Natural cheese stocks on July 31 were 1,043,353,000 lbs, down slightly from 1,048,262,000 lbs in June and down 4% from July 2011. Butter stocks totaled 231,999,000 lbs, down 5% from June but up 24% from July 2011.
Frozen red meat supplies totaled 1,030,770,000 lbs, down 5% from June but up 15% from July 2011. Frozen pork stocks were 546,551,000 lbs, down 8% from June but up 20% from July 2011. Beef stocks in freezers totaled 455,743,000 lbs, down 3% from June but up 10% from July 2011.
Total frozen egg stocks on July 31 were 38,674,000 lbs, down 4% from June but up 14% from July 2011. Stocks of egg whites were 3,375,000 lbs, down 22% from June but up 1% from July 2011. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 2,539,000 lbs, up 12% from June and up 2% from July 2011. Whole and mixed egg stocks were 11,956,000 lbs, up 2% from June and up 37% from July 2011. Unclassified egg stocks were 20,804,000 lbs, down 5% from June but up 7% from July 2011.
Stocks of frozen orange juice concentrate on July 31, 2012, were 857,856,000 lbs, down 10% from June but up 17% from July 2011. Stocks of all types of frozen fruit on July 31 were 1,088,232,000 lbs, up 22% from June and up 14% from July 2011.
Stocks of frozen french fries were 843,576,000 lbs, down 6% from June but up 18% from July 2011. Total vegetable stocks (excluding potatoes) on July 31 were 1,768,263,000 lbs, up 12% from June and up 7% from July 2011, the U.S.D.A. said.
