The Hershey Co. debuts chocolate and peanut butter Reese’s spreads
HERSHEY, PA. — The Hershey Co. is introducing the launch of Reese’s spreads. The spreads are based on the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup with a combination of chocolate and peanut butter in a spreadable form. Reese’s spreads are available nationwide at food, mass, drug, and convenience stores in 13-oz jars for a suggested retail price of $3.89.
Dunkin’ Donuts adds steak to menu
CANTON, MASS. — Dunkin’ Donuts is expanding its menu with the addition of steak. New items include the Angus steak and egg breakfast sandwich and the Angus steak and egg wake-up wrap. The Angus steak and egg breakfast sandwich features an Angus steak patty, egg, American cheese, and an oven-toasted bagel. The Angus steak and egg wake-up wrap features half of an Angus steak patty, half of an egg, and American cheese on a flour tortilla.
Both sandwiches may be customized with Dunkin’ Donuts baked goods.
“We’ve had Angus steak as part of our menu for a limited time at different points over the past couple of years, and it has always been quite popular with guests seeking innovative and interesting sandwich options, and the chance to enjoy a classic steak and eggs breakfast on the go, any time of day,” said Jeff Miller, Dunkin’ Brands’ executive chef and vice-president of product innovation. Both sandwiches are available nationwide.
J&J Snacks Foods introduces Oreo Churros
PENNSAUKEN, N.J. — J&J Snack Foods Corp. is partnering with Mondelēz International to release Oreo Churros. The churros feature a crispy coating with Oreo cookie pieces throughout the churro. Oreo Churros will be sold nationwide in the food service channel.
Sonic debuts hand-crafted sodas
OKLAHOMA CITY — Sonic Drive-In is announcing the addition of a line of hand-crafted sodas. The sodas may be made to order for customer specifications. The base is sparkling filtered water with the option to infuse real fruit flavors. Some of the flavor options include peach, raspberry, berry, fresh lemon, and blackberry pineapple.
“Our guests are increasingly interested in drinks of a lighter variety, but still want something special when they pull into a Sonic stall or drive-thru — it’s why they come to us,” said Chef Claes Petersson, vice-president of product innovation at Sonic. “We knew we had to continue to bring our consumers bold and original flavors, while balancing sweetness and fizz. As a result, our Sonic Splash hand-crafted sodas satisfy the need for something special while still offering guilt-free hydration. Our culinary innovation team really nailed it — we are so proud of the flavors we’ve created.”

Nature’s Path expands Qi’a lineup
RICHMOND, B.C. — Nature Path’s Qi’a is rolling out breakfast cereals. The cereals include the Qi’a superfood base as a blend. New flavors include superseeds and grains, creamy coconut, and cinnamon pumpkin seed. Qi’a superfood oatmeal features chia, hemp, and buckwheat with gluten-free rolled oats.
The oatmeal doesn’t contain added salt or sugar. Nature’s Path Qi’a is available in health and natural food retail stores for a suggested retail price of $5.49.
Hammond’s Candies announces popcorn flavors
DENVER — Hammond’s is rolling out new popcorn flavor varieties. The selections include mango habanero and honey peanut. The popcorn comes in 12-count cartons. New flavors join the original lineup, which includes Chicago style, chocolate caramel, sweet cinnamon toast, and standard caramel. Hammond’s popcorn is available for a suggested retail price of $3.99 to $4.99.
Stouffer’s launches Mac Cups
WILKES-BARRE, PA. — Stouffer’s is releasing Mac Cups. The cups of macaroni cook in about 3 minutes and pack in 10 grams of protein per cup. In addition, each cup consists of 250 calories or less. Mac Cups are available in classic mac and cheese, white cheddar and bacon mac, and cheeseburger mac.
Gorton’s announces fish stick products
GLOUCESTER, MASS. — Gorton’s Seafood is rolling out a new line of fish sticks and fillets. The products are wild-caught Alaska Pollock breaded in panko coating. The fish stick and fillet products will be available nationwide in early 2015.
Terra launches new vegetable chip flavors
BOULDER, COLO. — Terra Vegetable Chips is releasing two new flavors: Heritage Blend and Beauregard Sweets. The selections are produced with ingredients such as Chioggia beets, blue potatoes, Yukon Gold potatoes, and Beauregard sweet potatoes. In addition, the chips don’t contain artificial flavors, colors, or added MSG. The gluten-free vegetable chips are cooked in expeller pressed oils. Terra chips are available in 5-oz bags at Whole Foods through September 2015.
Ocean Spray launches functional water
LAKEVILLE-MIDDLEBORO, MASS. — Ocean Spray is innovating with PACt cranberry extract water. The functional beverage contains proanthocyanidins, which are elements of cranberries.
