Innovative sweets make their way to retail.
Hostess Brands added two breakfast snacks to its portfolio: Donettes Old Fashioned mini donuts and chocolate drizzle Baby Bundts.

The Hershey Co. is getting in on the plant-based trend and launching milk-free alternatives for its Hershey’s and Reese’s brands.
Made with dairy alternatives such as oats, Reese’s Plant Based Peanut Butter Cups and Hershey’s Plant Based Extra Creamy with Almonds and Sea Salt bar offer a similar melt-in-the-mouth experience to their traditional counterparts while satisfying changing consumer needs.
B&G Foods released a Girl Scouts Thin Mints seasoning blend, which is made up of dark cocoa, mint flavor and fine cookie crumbles.
Daiya expanded its plant-based line with new offerings featuring plant-based chicken. The company debuted a barbecue plant-based chicken thin crust pizza, which features fire-roasted tomatoes and red onions, and a plant-based chicken smoked bacon and ranch flatbread.
“It’s an exciting moment for us as we unveil our latest innovations at Expo West this year — and even more exciting to be able to offer consumers the first allergen friendly, plant-based pizza and flatbread featuring chicken shreds,” said Melanie Domer, chief marketing officer at Daiya.
Second Nature Brands added a new flavor to its Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle brand with the launch of gluten-free Brownie Brittle Reese’s Pieces. The brand launched a Reese’s Pieces flavor last year, but are now adding a gluten-free variety.
Nestle USA’s California Pizza Kitchen brand added two Croissant Inspired Crust pizzas. According to CPK, the thin crust pizzas’ dough’s flaky layers are “airy on the inside and golden-brown on the outside.” The Croissant Inspired Crust pizza is available in two varieties: uncured pepperoni and hot honey, and bacon and caramelized onion. The uncured pepperoni and hot honey pizza comes with its own serving of Mike’s Hot Honey, allowing consumers to customize their level of sweet heat.
“New Croissant Inspired Crust pizzas are a delicious twist on our CPK thin crust and give consumers new elevated toppings they’re looking for like hot honey,” said Elizabeth Hanculak, senior brand manager at Nestle. “It’s yet another example of our ability to leverage rapid innovation alongside the brand’s heritage and California roots to provide a premium at-home eating experience.”
Tyson is adding chicken breast sandwiches and sliders, which are available in original and spicy varieties.

The new Tyson chicken sandwiches and sliders deliver on satisfying your craving quickly with a mouthwatering, protein-packed sandwich.”
Dole Packaged Foods released a lineup of fruit forward products to its brands, including Wiggles and Good Crunch.
The Wiggles fruit gels are formulated with fruit juice, and have no added sugar. They are available in strawberry, orange and cherry flavors. Other new additions to the Dole portfolio include Good Crunch fruit bites, which are dried fruit snacks that are available in pineapple, pineapple with chili and banana varieties.
Wafer company Loacker added a new peanut butter flavor, which is formulated with 74% peanut butter cream and 5 grams of sugar with no added colors, according to the company.
“Our US customers love peanut butter, so we are delivering a peanut butter punch in the best form — a delicious wafer made with 74% peanut butter cream,” said TJ Rooney, president of Loacker USA. “For nearly 100 years, our customers have come to expect delicious crispy wafers and chocolates made with pure quality ingredients, so it was critical that our team met those expectations by providing them with a premium peanut butter experience.”
Straus Family Creamery introduced two ice cream flavors: lemon cookie and caramel swirl. The lemon cookie flavor features a sweet lemon ice cream and gluten-free shortbread cookies. The caramel swirl flavor blends a sweet cream base with a ribbon of caramel.
“It all starts with the milk from our community of organic dairy farms,” said Albert Straus, founder and chief executive officer of Straus Family Creamery. “Our new ice creams reflect the high quality and flavor of our milk from the cows grazing on organic pastures in West Marin and Sonoma County.”
Organic company GoMacro is expanding its organic plant-based protein bar line with its newest bar: cool endeavor, a mint chocolate chip flavor. The mint chocolate chip protein bar is available in full size and mini bars, and features 11 grams of plant-based protein, as well as cashew butter and a hint of peppermint.

Functional beverage brand Rebbl added two Wellness Elixirs to its lineup, including a tropical green and a berry roots flavor. Each new elixir features Aquamin’s mineralize marine-sourced red algae.
