Convenient meals debut in grocery store aisles.
Chef Andrew Zimmern introduced his new frozen entree line, By Andrew Zimmern, which features four options. Options in the frozen entree line include pulled pork mac and cheese, meatloaf, turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans, and Swedish meatballs.
Dr. Praeger’s added two plant-based burgers with a crunchy texture, which are available in crunchy cauliflower veggie and crunchy Southwestern sweet potato flavors. The burgers are formulated with six vegetables and a short list of vegan, gluten-free ingredients. They also contain 160 calories or less per serving of the 2.5-oz patty, along with 3 grams of protein, no cholesterol and under 7 grams of total fat.

Herdez, a brand from Hormel Foods Corp., added a new refrigerated barbacoa shredded beef in sauce entree.
The heat-and-eat product features slow-cooked beef mixed with orange and lime juice, paprika and a Mexican-inspired spice blend. The meal is ready-to-serve after 10 minutes of heating, and each serving contains 11 grams of protein.

Ben & Jerry’s is adding its newest non-dairy recipe with the debut of an oat-based formula. Ben & Jerry’s announced that nearly all 20 of its existing non-dairy flavors will be reformulated with the new base by spring 2024, beginning with the chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate fudge brownie flavors.
“With this new recipe, Ben & Jerry’s fans can expect more: more flavor, more creamy texture and more dessert euphoria with the same signature chunks and swirls,” said Colleen Rossell, flavor guru at Ben & Jerry’s. “The oat recipe is so good, it’s even loved by our most discerning dairy fans who are used to eating ice cream.”
Jackson’s added a new spicy jalapeño flavor to its line of kettle-cooked sweet potato chips. The chips, which are cooked in avocado oils, are gluten-free, vegan, kosher, peanut-free and grain-free. The spicy jalapeño chips are the latest flavor to join the company’s portfolio, which saw additions of a farmhouse ranch and habanero nacho flavor in 2023.
“Our spicy jalapeño is complimented by savory hints of onion and garlic, answering the growing consumer demand for classic spicy flavors while also providing a unique yet balanced pairing with the hearty sweet potato’s earthy flavor profile,” said Scott Reamer, co-founder of Jackson’s.
Barnacle Foods, a kelp-based food company, is adding a habanero hot sauce to its portfolio.
Barnacle Foods first debuted hot sauce three years ago, and the newest flavor features a “spark of heat, balanced with a hint of sweetness, and a deep savory boost from the kelp, the first ingredient,” according to the company.
“With each bite, we are sharing the flavors and story of Alaska’s coast,” said noted Lia Heifetz, co-founder of Barnacle Foods. “Our mission is built into the fabric of what we do at Barnacle — from how our team is structured to the ingredients that we use.”
My/Mochi is bringing back its cool peppermint mochi ice cream and introducing a new cookie dough flavor. These two flavors join the limited-edition pumpkin spice and apple pie a lá mode flavors introduced earlier this fall. The cool peppermint flavor features peppermint ice cream with minty bits wrapped in mochi rice dough, and the cookie dough flavor features cookie-flavored ice cream with chocolate chips and cookie dough bits, wrapped in mochi rice dough.
Newman’s Own is launching a line of reformulated pasta sauces. The sauces include flavors like marinara, tomato and basil, sockarooni, roasted garlic and fire roasted tomato and more.
