Introductions over the past year span across BBU brands.
Thomas’, a brand from Bimbo Bakeries USA, added croissant bread to its portfolio of English muffins and bagels. The bread features the “flaky delicate layers of a croissant baked right into a loaf and sliced for convenience, making it easier for consumers to toast and top with butter or other favorite toppings,” according to BBU.
Bimbo Bakeries USA introduced baked donut cakes through its Entenmann’s brand. The donut cakes, which are available in cinnamon and sugar and double chocolate chip flavors, come in boxes of six and are individually wrapped.
The donut cakes also contain no high-fructose corn syrup or artificial colors, making them “a permissible indulgence that can be enjoyed as breakfast, a mid-day snack or evening delight,” according to the company.
The Rustik Oven brand expanded its line of artisan-style products with the launch of sliced sourdough sandwich loaves in two varieties: sourdough and multi-grain sourdough.
“Our artisan-style loaves have always looked to inspire creativity in the kitchen and help our consumers savor delicious gourmet moments at home by bringing the quality of bread from their favorite local bakery right into the grocery aisle,” said Allan Hoffman, director of marketing for premium bread at BBU. “As we continue to redefine the artisan bread category, we’re excited to expand The Rustik Oven’s signature offerings into a delicious new format. Every great sandwich starts with great bread, and we can’t wait to see how fans use our sliced sourdough sandwich loaves in their favorite recipes.”
Entenmann’s added a refrigerated ready-to-bake cookie dough line, which launched in flavors like glazed donut, chocolate chip, chocolate brownie, cinnamon toffee and birthday cake. Each 14-oz package contains enough dough to bake a dozen cookies.
Bimbo Bakeries USA expanded its Arnold, Brownberry and Oroweat bread brands with the launch of Grains Almighty, a line formulated to “unlock the natural goodness of diverse and nutrient-rich whole grains,” according to the company. Grains Almighty is available in two varieties — Gut Balance and Plant Protein — and contains no artificial preservatives, colors, flavors or high-fructose corn syrup.
Grains Almighty Gut Balance includes whole grains, gut-fortifying prebiotic fiber and sprouted grains in every loaf. The variety also includes flax, honey, barley and sunflower seeds. Each two-slice serving contains 29 grams of whole grains and 7 grams of fiber. Grains Almighty Plant Protein features sprouted whole grains, chickpea flour and pea protein. The variety has 19 grams of whole grains, 9 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber in every two-slice serving.
Bimbo Bakeries USA partnered with food development and marketing company Sorrisa Group Inc. to introduce a line of ice cream novelties inspired by the baking company’s Entenmann’s brand. The companies offered six ice cream sandwich flavors inspired by Entenmann’s baked foods, including: brownie cookie salted caramel; chocolate chip cookie; chocolate chip and brownie cookie; chocolatey glazed cookie donut chocolate; chocolatey glazed cookie donut salted caramel; and glazed cookie donut.
The Thomas’ brand is expanding its bagel lineup with the launch of Thomas’ Everything Mini Bagels and Thomas’ Keto Bagel Thins Bagels.
BBU said the mini bagels are pre-sliced and contain no artificial colors, flavors or high-fructose corn syrup. The Everything seasoning features a blend of sesame seeds, poppy seeds and garlic, BBU said. The Thomas’ Everything Mini Bagels have a suggested retail price of $5.49 for a 10-count bag. Thomas’ Keto Bagel Thins also are pre-sliced and contain 2 net carbs and 80 calories per serving. Available in a plain variety, the Keto Bagel Thins have a suggested retail price of $7.49 for an 8-count package.
Bimbo Bakeries USA added Sara Lee White Bread Made with Veggies to its sliced bread portfolio. The bread is fortified with vitamins A, D and E and features approximately one cup of vegetables per loaf, according to the company.
“We know that mealtime can be a battle with picky eaters and little ones that aren’t exactly in love with vegetables,” said Jinder Bhogal, senior brand manager at Sara Lee Bread. “We baked up the idea for our new Sara Lee White Bread Made with Veggies with families in mind to offer a deliciously unique option that’s new to the bread aisle. Made with love — and a cup of vegetables per loaf — we hope our fans will enjoy incorporating this new offering into breakfast, lunch, snack time and beyond.”
Bimbo Bakeries USA introduced limited-edition Little Bites cinnamon buns muffins from the Little Bites Snacks line of its Entenmann’s brand. The bite-size snacks come in pouches of four and are made with “real cinnamon,” include no high-fructose corn syrup or trans-fat, and contain 180 calories per pouch, making them an ideal snack that children and adults can enjoy for breakfast and lunch, the company noted.
Snack brand Popcornopolis added jalapeño lime and white cheddar flavors to its Nearly Naked line, joining the original Perfectly Salted flavor. The new Nearly Naked packaging features eye-catching bag colors and “a new modern look,” according to the company. In addition, each variety’s packaging clearly displays the calorie count per one cup serving (35 for Perfectly Salted and 50 for jalapeño lime and white cheddar).
Entenmann’s partnered with sweet baked goods company Baked by Melissa to launch a limited-edition collection of miniature cupcakes in celebration of Entenmann’s 125th anniversary. The bite-size cakes came in such flavors as Devil’s Food Crumb, chocolate chip cookie and Party cake.
