ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — Dale and Thomas Growers L.L.C., maker of the Popcorn, Indiana brand, said it will lay off 56 employees at its plant in Englewood as it shifts some manufacturing operations to Indiana. Approximately 100 employees will remain in Englewood.
Dale and Thomas said the move is being made to position itself “for continued growth in a responsible manner.”
The company said it has delivered double-digit compound annual growth since its inception in 2004 and expects to continue the trend by adding to its manufacturing capability by working with a contract manufacturer.
“Unfortunately, our volume mix will require a change in our manufacturing schedule, hence necessitating the change in the number of our manufacturing employees at this time,” the company said. “This allows us to be closer to our ingredients as well as closer to our customer base from a shipping standpoint.”
Dale and Thomas Growers makes snacks under the company’s own Popcorn, Indiana brand, including kettlecorn, granola popcorn, a combination popcorn and potato chip and low calorie, gluten-free popcorn.
